Renae Morriseau

Renae Morriseau is Nêhiyawi/Cree, Nahkawiniw/ Saulteaux from the Treaty 1 territory. She has spent most of her life as an artist and storyteller. She has worked individually and collectively on Indigenous stories in music, theatre, film, and television. Much of her work is community-engaged art, art created with, for, and about the hopes of a good life - Miyo-Pimatisown -  for all people, including Indigenous people on their lands and in the cities of Turtle Island.   

She has worked across Canada and internationally with her singing group, M’Girl.   She currently instructs Indigenous film studies at Capilano University; however, she continues to create her own work in music and film.  She is honoured to share a story and song for ʔəm̓ i ce:p xʷiwəl Come Toward The Fire.
